Energy Booster: The Power of Breathwork and Affirmations for Cellular Health

I love affirmations. I want to affirm daily what it is I desire for the day. Today’s affirmation is "Every morning I wake up full of energy and ready to face the day." But, if you're like many, you might be thinking, "Shawna, I don’t wake up full of energy every day." Believe me, I understand. You could change this affirmation to "I am in the process of waking up full of energy and ready to face the day." However, if you are going to say it, then you really need to be in the process. Let's explore one thing you could do to help you wake up full of energy and ready to face the day.

Foundational Principle
First, let's start with a foundational principle: You are made up of cells. Those cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, and organs make up systems that make YOU - YOU. If you want to be healthy, your systems need to be healthy, your organs need to be healthy, your tissues need to be healthy, and your cells need to be healthy.

So, what is one action you can take today that can create more health all the way to the cells?

The answer: Breathwork.

Six Ways Breathwork Boosts YOUR Energy Levels

  1. Oxygenation:
    • Deep and rhythmic breathing boosts oxygen intake, crucial for cell energy production.
    • Oxygen is essential for cellular respiration, the process by which cells produce energy (ATP).
    • ATP supports cell activities like growth, repair, and signaling.

  2. Cellular Energy Production:
    • Breathwork enhances mitochondrial function, the powerhouse of the cell.
    • Mitochondria produce ATP through oxidative phosphorylation, providing energy for cells.
    • Better mitochondrial function means more energy for cells, keeping them healthy.

  3. Stress Reduction:
    • Certain breathwork techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation.
    • Relaxation responses help reduce stress, allowing cells to move through the healing state.
    • Less stress means better cell function and resilience.

  4. pH Regulation:
    • Breathwork influences pH balance by adjusting CO2 levels.
    • Proper CO2 levels ensure optimal cellular pH, crucial for overall health.

  5. Detoxification:
    • Breathwork helps eliminate metabolic waste and toxins, supporting cellular health.
    • Deep breathing stimulates lymphatic flow, aiding waste removal.
    • Improved detoxification supports overall cellular health.

  6. Immune Function:
    • Relaxation from breathwork can boost immune function.
    • Reducing stress helps maintain immune activity, defending against infections and inflammation.
    • A stronger immune system allows cells more time to generate energy.
This ONE simple action can help you have more energy. This isn’t a one-time fix; it's about incorporating daily breathwork into your routine. Start with a few minutes each day, and then increase based on how you feel. It all begins with taking the first step: an intentional deep breath in through the nose and out through the nose. Give it a try for at least 2 minutes, and then let me know how you feel. Together, let’s unlock vitality through the power of breathwork!

Every month I host a 7-Day Energy Kickstarter Challenge.
During this challenge we practice Energy Boosters that bring your body the energy sources required for cellular health.
