that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Eph. 6:13
In scripture, Ephesians 6:13-20 lists the armor of God. A spiritual covering we may or may not see or feel, but believe is there by faith once we have prayerfully put it on. We maintain this armor simply by acknowledging its presence. In my experience, things of the spirit require little to no effort on our part; unlike that in the physical world around us which requires much work and attention to maintain. In the spirit, you need only to be aware of it to maintain it.
Below is the list of the pieces of armor as listed in Ephesians.
Step 1: Pray: "I put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit." Wear it with gratitude for the protection it gives you.
Step 2: Once you have done that, ask, "Am I wearing the whole armor of God?"
Step 3:If you return to this page in the future (or are now returning), ask through each thing separately, "Am I wearing the ____?" There can be significance to which part of the armor you've "lost", and benefit to understanding how that happened.
Belt of truth
Breastplate of righteousness
Shoes of the gospel of peace
Shield of faith
Helmet of salvation
Sword of the Spirit
Prayer
I love this video where Priscilla Shirer (Actress: War Room. Author: Fervent: A Woman's Battle Plan) shares her understanding of the armor of God.
Ephesians 6:13-20
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
